The Office of Field Experiences provides support services for school-based clinical experiences that candidates complete for courses and during yearlong internships and student teaching. Field experiences – observing, interacting with, and teaching children and youth – are a critical part of all teacher education programs at UNC Charlotte. These field experiences continue throughout a candidate’s program and culminate in a 15-week, full-time student teaching experience after completion of all other course work.
Attention: Elementary Education and Special Education-General Curriculum Candidates
The testing requirement for elementary education and special education-general curriculum candidates has changed. Candidates who pass the Praxis II licensure exams by September 30, 2014 will be allowed to use those scores for licensure. Candidates passing Praxis II by September 30, 2014 will not be required by DPI to also take the new licensure exams.
This means you are able to take either the Praxis II OR the new Foundations tests. If you want to count the Praxis II tests, you must PASS the test(s) by September 30, 2014. If you have already registered for the Foundations tests and want to switch, below is the refund policy posted on the Foundations website:
“If you withdraw your registration before you have scheduled your test appointment or if you cancel your test appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled testing time and then withdraw your registration, you will receive a full refund of your test fee. The registration processing fee will not be refunded. Your refund will be issued by Evaluation Systems within four weeks of your request.” The processing fee for each test is $30.
